Guidelines for Parents & Guardians

We respect parents' rights and obligations to take care of their children's safety. We encourage parents and guardians to:

  1. Make sure your child understands that not everyone who uses the internet is a good person who can be trusted.
  2. Make sure that your child does not exchange any personal information with anyone.
  3. Do not allow your child to send a picture of themselves or anything else without first checking with you.
  4. Encourage your child to report any behaviour from other users that is unwanted or makes them feel uncomfortable.
  5. Talk with your child so that you can set up rules for going online. Together you will decide upon the time of day that your child can be online, the length of time your child can be online and appropriate areas for your child to visit. Your child will not access other areas or break these rules without your permission.
  6. Monitor all of your child's internet and cellphone usage.
  7. Please do not hesitate to report anything to us that you consider may be unacceptable.
  8. Please look at Netsafe and The Department of Internal Affairs for more tips on Internet Safety.

Judging

Sure, you may have 100,000 facebook friends to vote for you but it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re on the plane. It’s a quality, then quantity rule round here. We’ll be making our decision based on originality and creativity, how well your entry fits with the values of the Marmite brand, then popularity.
