Dear Marmite - Karen has been dedicated to this cause from the get-go. The photos do not completely do the effort she has put in justice. The photos only show the final work, but what they don't show are the countless hours of labour put in beforehand. This is, by far, not the only reason why Jake should win flights to come home for Christmas, but it is one of the most deserving reasons. Watching Karen's endeavours to win her son a trip home has been uplifting for me - there is nothing more powerful than a mother's love for her child. Whilst the trip home won't last long for Karen's golden son - as Robert Lee Frost says: "nothing gold can stay" - the memories shared over a Christmas at home for once, will be, forever, entrenched in the hearts of the West family. This is what Jake deserves, this is what Karen deserves, this is what the wider West family deserve, for all of their efforts. So, please Marmite, send Jake home for Christmas! ps: I could write a novel!

But events of late mean that more than ever I need to see you here at home so I can spoil you rotten, and of course most importantly, feed you!!! Thanks so much to everybody, family, friends, other entrants, friends & family of other entrants, we couldn't have done this without all of you throwing your support Jake's way. Pies & Hugs & My Final Marmite Blog
Hi everyone......so Mum sends me Marmite, no prob, but Mince n Cheese Pies don't travel so well, and I'm hungry!!!
How can I adequately thank everyone for all the votes, comments, pics, kindness, love and support? You are all amazing and if it gets me home this Christmas it will mean everything to me. It's been awesome, or perhaps 'choice' is a better word, maybe I should be brushing up on the Kiwi Lingo? I have 'met' so many cool people through this comp and hope that I can meet up with some of you sometime either in NZ or here in the USA. Leah, you are just over the border, Pippa, you are just up the road, Bronny, might see you in San Diego one day, Kylie, book me in for dinner ( please! ), and Lisa, let's hope we can have a drink in the Hardware Bar soon! You've run an incredible competition Marmite, created your own little unique social network. Bringing Kiwis together and bringing them home. Great to see everyone supporting Nick, and I sure hope he gets to go home. Mum, maybe now you can get some sleep and can stop carting around your camera & a jar of Marmite, not to mention the Marmite frame. And then there's been the standard question for everyone, everyday....have you voted yet??? Thanks for always being there for me, been some tough times lately but hopefully we will come through OK and to see you and everyone at Christmas would at least end the year on a high. So please Marmite, I need Pies & Hugs & a ride home!! Thanks everyone, I love you all & hope to see you soon! Love Jake x x

Hi Marmite - this has been a great competition and we all hope Jake is one of the lucky ones who gets a flight home to see his mum, granny, aunt and uncle, all his friends and all the rest of us who are proud to have Karen as a friend and Jake as an honorary nephew! All the contestants have been great and the pages have been fab – it’s been great voting and seeing new pictures and the wonderful ideas people have come up with all revolving around MARMITE. We think Jake has done a great job with the help of his mum and lots of other people who have come up with great ideas, MARMITE you will have great advertising material for the next 100 years – so Happy 100th Birthday! We hope to see you soon Jake! Love Janice, Mark and Thomas.

Celebrating 1,000 votes with my favorite meal, the Figgwich!
I used to work at a cafe in Petone, NZ called Cafe Figg. My awesome two bosses, Graeme and Robyn (Aunty and Uncle #1) showed me how to make some pretty tasty treats while working there, but this one has stuck with me and I thought I would document it. It's my favourite thing to eat when I'm getting a little homesick! Ingredients: SANITARIUM MARMITE, three pieces of bread, butter, Watties tomato sauce, cheddar cheese, Method: Butter the appropriate sides of the bread, as you would a normal toasted sandwich, or as they like to call it in the USA, a "cheesy griller." Here's how the layers work... With the buttered bread starting at the bottom, it then goes tomato sauce, cheese, Marmite, bread, tomato sauce, cheese, Marmite, buttered bread. With that in mind, place on a fry pan and let the magic happen. I am eating it right now and trying to type at the same time. It's delicious! Try it and let me know what you think. The original Figgwich! p.s. Big shout out to the Wellington Hurricanes! Hope you like the shirt! p.p.s. Thank you sooooooooo much for all of the votes coming in. I was so excited to see my votes hit the 1,000 mark earlier today!!! And thanks to my awesome mother for being the 1,000th vote, I knew she stayed up past her bedtime to be the one!

THERE ONCE WAS A LADY CALLED KAREN, AND JAKE, HE WAS HER SON - THEY LIVED IN GOOD OLD NEW ZEALAND, FOR TIMES OF LAUGHTER AND FUN. BECAUSE KAREN WAS SO CLEVER, AND USED TO DOING ALL THINGS RIGHT - SHE INTRODUCED YOUNG JAKE, TO THE GOODNESS OF MARMITE. WITH LOTS OF MARMITE INSIDE, JAKE GREW UP BIG AND STRONG - NOTHING THAT'S THIS TASTY COULD BE GONE WITHOUT FOR LONG. AS JAKE STARTED TO GET OLDER, WITH A WHOLE WIDE WORLD TO SEE - HE SET OUT ONE BRIGHT SUNNY DAY, ON HIS BIG AMERICAN "OE". ITS JUST BEEN FAR TOO LONG NOW, SINCE JAKE LAST SAW HIS MUM - SOMETIMES THIS LEAVES THEM BOTH FEELING A TINY WEE BIT GLUM. SO MARMITE PLEASE, HEAR WHAT WE SAY - AND SEND JAKE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS DAY.

Hi Jake I am Jo Scotts sister and I have that same little Hairy Maclary dog. I am now teaching the Aussie kids the joys of these kiwi greats. Cheers Adrienne (a vote coming your way!)

Marmite across the globe.
My buddy from high school, Kayla, made this for me. Thanks so much for all the support in getting me home for Christmas this year everyone!
Jumping for joy!
This would be my reaction if I were to be one of the lucky 100 people heading home this Christmas. Please please please please please Marmite!

Love the snow but I want my summer Christmas!
Here is what the University of Oregon campus looks like in the winter time. I really miss heading out to the beach on Christmas Day with the family and spending time out in the sun. The weather has already started getting pretty cold here. I even miss getting my Christmas sunburns!
Destined to be best friends!
My beautiful best friend Whitney Highfield (also pictured a few posts earlier in our football garb) grew up in Reno, NV. We didn't know each other until three years ago, but in sixth grade she dressed up as a kiwi when she was at Roy Gomm Elementary School! I'm not gonna lie, a lot of Americans have never heard of a kiwi, but this wonderful girl certainly knew! I just about fell off my chair in laughter when I saw the photo, but how cool is that?!?!

You may be a kiwi, and I may be German. But I really want to try Marmite now. I'm curious as to the taste of it. I really hope you get this Jacob. We went to school together a long time ago but you're still awesome :)

What I do in Eugene...
I would never be able to start my day at work without my morning ritual of Marmite toast. After my daily serving of vitamin B complex, B12 and iron I am ready to go. I am currently working here in Eugene at the Oregon Daily Emerald as a designer. I found a page that I designed last year that has Wellington colors in it so I thought it would be an appropriate one to post. You should all check out the site for the paper - www.dailyemerald.com
He wants Marmite as much as I do!
My gorgeous cat, Andy, back home in Naw Zealand loves Marmite. I miss my cats! Too cute!

A long way from home.
Let me preface this one by saying that the Pacific Ocean is big. Like really big. In fact, I am 7,048 miles away from my home right now and I would love to see that number disappear this Christmas so that I can see my friends and family that I haven't seen in years. Unfortunately, as you can see in the pic, my mother's eyesight isn't quite good enough to see me on the west coast of the USA from New Zealand, so I would love to keep getting all of your votes to help me get home and see her for Christmas! I'm sure she would be pretty stoked about it too! Cheers everyone!

Stop making me cry Jacob...............actually what I am upset about is my head, I think I need a haircut, looks like there is a small animal stuck to the back of my noggin!! Oh dear, I promise to get a mop chop Jake if you get a ticket home, wouldn't want to embarrass you.......mind you it wouldn't be the first time, ha ha!! x x x

You used to love getting in the cupboards and getting everything out. Banging on pots and generally making as much noise as possible, yep fun days ( & messy ones too )!!

Marmite makes you feel on top of the world!
And I think I can speak for everyone in the competition that it is pretty awesome they're sending 100 of us Kiwis home this Christmas!
Go Ducks!
Here is a picture of me and my best friend Whitney at last weekend's football game. The University of Oregon Ducks beat out Stanford University 52-31 and we're now ranked #3 in the nation which is AWESOME! Notice how we are both wearing Wellington colors too? Almost like going to a Hurricanes or Lions game! If I get to go home this Christmas I would love to go to a rugby game at Westpac Stadium. It has been so long since I have been able to do so! Whitney has been awesome in helping me get votes for this competition and I couldn't thank her more!!!!

We used to get milk delivered in bottles at Canterbury uni... I think the milk tastes better that way!
Report this comment10 October 10 at 11:46pm
Ha ha ....I USED to be the milk girl that delivered milk in bottles to your letterbox in Christchurch! That is until I crashed my milk trolley. I reckon the milk tasted better in bottles too.....mmmmm. After school snack, marmite and cheese toasties and a glass (or in my brothers case a bottle) of milk

Gotta bring your Marmite everywhere!
Definitely took living right on the coast for granted growing up in New Zealand. I miss it!
5 October 10 at 12:31am
So do I! I think the last time I saw the sea was over a year ago. Best of luck with the comp, hope you get to go home. You have my vote for today :)

I'm in Oregon so I am still on the west coast, but it is at least an hour to the coast. So weird after growing up being able to see the ocean from my house!

Longest place name in the world! And it's in NZ!
I give a lot of presentations around the Eugene community about New Zealand and after mentioning this place name so many times I have finally been able to memorize the entire thing! I remember watching the ASB Classic a few years back when they were interviewing Martina Navratilova in New Zealand and she could memorize it too!
10 October 10 at 11:49pm
Hate to be a bit of a spoil sport but it's actually the THIRD longest name in the world...so .sorry! Thailand claims the first, Wales the second and NZ (your pic!) has oficially the third.....

Get Jake home!
My two little NZ fans hoping to get me home too, and of course they LOVE Marmite. Caleb and Tyler both live in Christchurch and have been pretty freaked out about the earthquakes and continuing aftershocks. I hope they are doing okay! Thanks to their mum, Tania, for taking this awesome photo!!!!
