Hey there ~ tomorrow is October 31st and the end of bringhomethekiwis. Not long to go now.
I have felt very privileged to be part of Marmite's 100th birthday and the way that they're celebrating by bringing 100 kiwis from somewhere in the world to their homes for a NZ family Christmas. How cool is that? So cooool!
[Marmite + I did share an evening out in Bruxelles for both our birthdays]
Most people are really amazed when you tell them about this concept and without exception, they utter, "Wow - What an amazing 100th birthday celebration! Well done Marmite!"
What an experience this has been. Registering, setting up the page, creating items of visual interest, taking Marmite socialising / travelling, sharing snippets of the journey with supporters for what feels like ... foreeeeever! (lol).
I would like to send out a super BIG thank you to my whanau for the care, whanaungatanga, encouragement and suggestions. Very cool stuff Mark, Leigh, Tammy and Gemma. Thanks A. Cheryl, Chase + Liam who is in dire need of BIG Cuz input. To A.Angela + whanau in ChCh, thank too + hope the land + your nerves are settling?
An especially big thank you to Mum and Nana (hope you've watched Nana's vid). Nana - it will be so wonderful tyo be back at home and to give you the biggest bear-hug cuddle, with many more after that.
There have been many big changes in the family and it is high time to catch up in person and to be part of the support process.
The strength of whanau, from the oldest to youngest, is summed up in a whakatauki sent in by nephew, Caleb Kahotea "Kia ngatahi ai e tu, e pakari ai te tuara". [Standing together as one, that is our strength] (My interp) Kia ora Caleb.
A HUGE thank you to all supporters ~ whanau/ family, friends, workmates and people I've got to recognise thru this site i.e. my Marmite Whanau. Hopefully, there'll be a plane trip soon where at least some of us, can get to meet each other in person. Maybe wear a Marmite hat, tee or "I LOVE MARMITE' badge. (Does ANZ serve Marmite sandwiches as an option?)
Today I am heading off to Scotland to lend support to a friend. I will keep up with entries when I can. In the meantime, MARMITE, PLEASE GIVE ME A FLIGHT HOME FOR CHRISTMAS.
Thank you once again Marmite for this wonderful and FUN opportunity! Kia kaha.
So people, keep voting, keep commenting, keep safe, keep well, keep smiling and best wishes to you all.
Nga mihi nui kia koutou katoa.
Meri Kirihimete 2010!
Ka pai to ra.
Na, Jamie.

Born To Be Marmite Wild
Born to be Marmite Wild ~ tune been running around in my heard.... first, da lyrics....:
Get the airplane runnin'
Head out on the flightpath
Lookin' for New Zealand
And whatever's on our way!
Yeah Marmite's going to make it happen
Take kiwis from all-over the-world
Black passports and bags in place
And take-off to our space.
Like a true Marmite child
We were born, born to be wild.
Kiwis climb so high,
Marmite helps them flyeeeee.
Marmite makes you wild
Marmite makes you wild
I like toast and marmite
Heavy with some butter
Chewing to perfection
And the feelin' that I like.
Yeah Marmite's going to make it happen
Taking kiwis to another land
Fly all of them home to Auckland
And take off to the sand.
Like a true Marmite child
We were born, born to be wild
Kiwis climb so high
Marmite helps them flyeeeee.
Born to be wild
Born to be wild
Born to be Marmite wild!
YEH! Marmite's da bomb!

RIP Benny Douglas 2006 - 2010
Sadly, this week got much worse,
As our Benny lost his fight.
He fought it very bravely,
But past away last night.
His heart was never so good,
But to see him, you'd never know.
He was sleek and black and strong,
And he sure gave dogs a go.
We were told his life would be short,
But you always hope for more.
Ben followed us all around and,
Knew It was him we adored.
His heart, it finally gave out,
And no relief meds could be found.
So late, at 9.40 last night,
From Benny, there was no more sound.
At home there is a service,
To farewell our furry friend.
We give thanks for the many blessings,
That over four years, our Ben did send.
RIP Benny Douglas 2006- 2010
Much loved to my Auckland whanau XOXO

Homeward roam with Marmite
Oh to be back in the fine days of summer
Here, it's all cold. That's a real bummer
The fact is that winter here lasts, oh so long
Maybe with Marmite I can plan to be gone.
With a flight, it'd be quick to get home to Mum,
Without it, I could swim but that would be dumb
I could sail and find myself lost out at sea
I could float on the waves and let things just be
Whatever, I hope that I land near to home
Washed up with the seaweed + salty-foam
Or better, met by family at the aerodrome
With Marmite helping me to homeward roam,
Pleeze Marmite - take this kiwi home
(These lyrics fit with the photo below but weren't so clear all jammed together. Kia ora).

Hello Benny and family. A sad day dawns without your Benny zipping around the kitchen. He has been a loyal friend and strict manager of dogs - hehe. Ben has also been lucky to have such a lovely family and wonderful place to be with for the last 4 years. Love to you all. XXXX

getting cold
Dear Marmite: It's Wednesday 13 October. It's freezing cold here in
Bruxelles so it was very difficult to get out of bed. Autumn can be a
time of reflection... like, what am I doing, heading into yet another
northern hemisphere winter, only just managing to get enough work and
bunking in with a friend. I love being here and travelling but the
euros don't go very far. So here I am off to work on a project that'll
last until Friday. Not sure what happens after that. Fingers crossed.
But there's some readies to buy some food. Must say that it's nice to
dream about coming home to NZ for Christmas. How are things going for
you, Marmite?
14 October 10 at 10:39am
Hey Jamie, its definitely time to fly South for winter, heres 416 for you.

You can really only get THAT lovin' feeling at home...
So MARMITE ~ my whanau are mad keen to see me home. And I want to see them too. There's something about whanau and being around them, especially at time like the celebration of Christmas. A special time to bring back that loving feeling. This is a not-so good but recent recording of a significant someone from my home-town showcasing another of his many talents... have a listen and tell me and Marmite what you think...

Yay! #400 is Mum - woohoo! Now off to have my morning tea of crackers and Marmite washed down with a cup of plunger coffee. Yummy!
