Matt Burnell  - Winner !

Article in Wanganui Chronicle Newspaper - Glenn Watson

Expats from around the Wanganui
region have jumped aboard a New
Zealand company's competition to
reunite Kiwis for Christmas.
The sandwich spread maker
Marmite is running a competition
at marmite.co.nz inviting New
Zealanders to say why they, or
their loved one, deserve to win one
of 100 one-way flights home from
anywhere around the world this
December.
Marmite brand manager Hayley
Findlay said there were 600,000
New Zealanders living abroad and,
to mark its centenary, the com
pany thought it would be a good
idea to bring home 100 Kiwis for
Christmas.
One participant keen to see
mum and dad for Christmas is
Marton's Jo Hardy.
She now lives in New York,
working for a major publicist.
Her farmer dad Rod said her
daughter left on her OE four years
ago and has made the odd visit
home since.

Another entry, Matt Burnell, is
strictly not a Wanganui person,
but he's got Kiwi blood.
A builder in Canada, he wants
to get to the River City to visit his
English-born mum and Kiwi dad, a
wool buyer for Wrightsons.
Mum Mary has been living in
Wanganui for the past six years
and loves the place.
Her daughter Jenna moved here
a few years back with her
Londoner partner.
``Matt was in Wanganui briefly
four years ago for Christmas. I've
told him how good Wanganui is.
Hopefully he'll get to see more of it
this Christmas,'' said Mary.
Wanganui's Meg Evans, who is
based in London, is also among the
scores of entries. Competition
entries close on October 31.

Hey Matt - thanks for heading to Emma Butler's page - she needs the support cos we were late starters (she's just started her graphic design papers this semester and is snowed under (pun) and this Mumsy was a bit slow in finding out about this whole Marmite opportunity). I'm going to head her your way cos you have some aaaaamazing graphics that I'm sure she will love...and of course vote for you while she's here:) Sending you positive vibes.Ciao

Definition Snowman vs Marmite

Snowman (pronounced SnO Man) is the name given to a fellow from New Zealand, of two similar nationalities: the original British version, first produced in the United Kingdom and later a version grown in New Zealand. Snowman is made of hangovers extract, a by-product of beer drinking.

The British version of the product was a blonde, curious sort with a distinctive, powerful need to travel, extremely suggestive to all things beer and savoury foods with qualities, somewhat comparable to tequila. This distinctive fellow is reflected in the British marketing slogan: "Love it or hate it." He is partial to the Australian Fosters and Cayman Brew but it has to be mentioned that TUI from NZ is his absolute favorite.

The distinctive fellow was originally British (1971), but a version with a different flavour[1] has been manufactured in New Zealand, Europe, Africa, Caribbean, South America and about 50 other places, and is currently residing in Canada. He has been gone so long from home that he has not yet had a chance to meet his sibling (sis) little marmites who are growing like weeds.

The image is taken at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver shows a "kiwi" flightless birds endemic to New Zealand Which is in fact the opposite of the Snowman. The British Snowman was originally blonde but during the last few years has darkened, thinned and comes now in a rounder figure.

Marmite (pronounced /ˈmɑrmaɪt/ MAR-myet) is the name given to two similar food spreads: the original British version, first produced in the United Kingdom and later South Africa, and a version produced in New Zealand. Marmite is made from yeast extract, a by-product of beer brewing.

The British version of the product is a sticky, dark brown paste with a distinctive, powerful flavour, which is extremely salty and savoury with umami qualities, somewhat comparable to soy sauce. This distinctive taste is reflected in the British company's marketing slogan: "Love it or hate it." It is similar to the Australian Vegemite and Swiss Cenovis.

The distinctive product was originally British (1902), but a version with a different flavour[1] has been manufactured in New Zealand since 1919, and this is the dominant version in New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands.

The image on the front of the British jar shows a "marmite" (French: [maʁmit]), a French term for a large, covered earthenware or metal cooking pot.[2] The British Marmite was originally supplied in earthenware pots, but since the 1920s has been sold in glass jars that approximate the shape of such pots.[3] A thinner version in squeezable plastic jars was introduced in March 2006.

Sure, you may have 100,000 facebook friends to vote for you but it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re on the plane. It’s a quality, then quantity rule round here. We’ll be making our decision based on originality and creativity, how well your entry fits with the values of the Marmite brand, then popularity.
