Marie Sheffield - Winner !
My reason for wanting to go home!
Dear fellow Marmiters and kiwis around the world. I underwent surgery on the 1st September, here in the UK, to correct a stomach problem I have suffered from for the past 4 years. It was quite major and means that I have not been able to eat solid foods since then as the stomach is currently 'traumatised' and will be for another 2 months. A liquid diet is not the greatest but I have lost a lot of weight ( nearly 2 stone!) which IS however great for the figure. I would love my first solid meal to be Christmas dinner with my family who unfortunately were unable to be with me during my surgery and recovery. Please help to send this homesick girl home for some real, homemade food, it will be a meal to remember!!
A sunshiney kiwi day?
Its still cold over here, 12 degs today but lots of sunshine. Tis warm on my balcony and if I sit on my sun-lounger, squint my eyes and tune out the planes coming out of Heathrow I can ALMOST imagine I am sitting on my parent's verandah....sigh!
Another way to go?
Found this 'car' in Cornwall, PLEASE dont make me have to drive this home, it may take a while!

Uh, colourful, but I don't think you'd make it in that, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang maybe? Theres a big stretch of ocean to cover...unless that car runs on Marmite - then you'll just fly home in it! :)

The Exponents area must-see band. I first saw them in 1984 at Founders Theatre in Hamilton when they were known as 'The Dance Exponents'! Sigh.....

Homesick Kiwi
This is real nostalgia for me as I used to live in Auckland many years ago. Have this framed in my London flat so I always remember where I came from, aaaaahhhhhh!
Weather update
Brrrrr! It is so cold over here lately, I'd give anything (well, nearly) for some beaut kiwi sunshine! Come on marmite, give us a go for a hot Christmas!
23 October 10 at 10:41pm
Yup, Christmas isn't Christmas unless you have your jandals on! Marmite on toast for breakfast, beach all day (marmite sammies?) and then a good old Kiwi BBQ at night...nothing better!

New ideas for Marmite :)
Have now moved on to being able to eat tinned spaghetti, tasted great with some marmite added, sure you could do this with baked beans too. And to top it off, some cheese would be great, pukka!!
18 October 10 at 10:59am
Bet its good to be able to eat some soft foods finally! And for you it must be a whole new world being able to eat cheese without getting a painful tummy like you used to.

Alas, cant eat hard cheese yet, have to stick to the soft cottage cheese variety! But is good to eat some 'real' food at last even if it is only soft, I'm dying for a burger with beetroot tho!

Shopping? Done!
Did my weekly pilgrimage to the supermarket today. Guess what was on my shopping list? Marmite, yup, more marmite drinks heading for my tummy :) Yum yum!
An ode to Marmite!
Ma might but Pa wont
was the anthem when I was a kid.
And eat our breakfast every day
of course we always did!
Marmite on toast to start our day
was eaten with a healthy grin.
Smeared all over our face, still went in the mouth
and, yep, all over our chin.
Energy needed for a kiwi kid
to tackle the days hard slog,
cause marmite will, as we all know,
keep you fit as a butchers dog!

We were all known for the marmite smear Kell I,m sure! Thanks for your words of support above, it really means a lot :) xxx

Just had an ultra-sound and been given all-clear as far as the surgery is concerned but I keep tearing the muscle apart again so it has to start mending itself all over again. Will be on a fluid diet for another 2 months tho as stomach is too swollen after surg. Maybe can eat marmite on toast for Xmas lunch?

Judging
Sure, you may have 100,000 facebook friends to vote for you but it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re on the plane. It’s a quality, then quantity rule round here. We’ll be making our decision based on originality and creativity, how well your entry fits with the values of the Marmite brand, then popularity.

Here is vote 212 for you, Marie, from Leah's Mum. I wish you well with your healing and getting home for Christmas.. Surgery takes some getting over and hard when you have no-one to take care of you. My little girl has had more than her share of that experience too. All the best and take care. X
