Some frequently asked questions

Who can enter the promotion?

Entry is open to anyone currently living/travelling outside of NZ who:

  • is a NZ Resident or Citizen with a valid passport; and
  • is 18 years or older at the time of entry

What's the prize?

A one-way economy class flight from one of the listed ports of departure (click here) to Auckland, NZ. To claim a prize, you must be available to travel back to NZ during the month of December, 2010.

The flights to Auckland will be scheduled to land on or around Wednesday 8th December, 2010.

How many tickets are up for grabs?

100. One for every year Marmite has been on our toast and in our pantries.

What do I need to do to enter?

To enter, ex-pat Kiwis must register here. Then you can create a profile page and convince us you deserve a ticket. Your page is for you to edit and update as you see fit – the better your entry, the better your chances. Basically, show your love for Marmite and tell us why you should come home.

What can't I include in my entry?

Common sense applies here really. This is a family-friendly site so keep your content clean – anything offensive, threatening, pornographic, dangerous, illegal, fraudulent, breach of a third party’s intellectual property rights, or defamatory will be chucked out and will not get you home.

Do I get a return flight?

If you want to arrange a return flight, we can sort that out with you and the good people at Air NZ at your own expense. We will quote a return fare (via Tandem Travel in NZ) and we’ll cover half of the return fare with you, the winner, paying the remaining half of the balance, so long as the amount payable is less than the cost of a one way journey (which can be pretty expensive at that time of year). We want you home (we don’t want to send you away again) so we are only paying for your trip to NZ.

What happens if I'm not allowed back to NZ (e.g. NZ Police, Customs etc)?

Unfortunately, if you have a criminal record, you won't be able to claim your prize – all winners need to be able to legally reside in NZ.

If I don't live in Auckland, will Marmite cover my travels from there?

Sorry. We’ll take you most of the way by bringing you to NZ, but it’s up to you to arrange and pay for your travel arrangements from Auckland International Airport to wherever it is that you call "home".

Does Marmite cover any other costs such as re-location or getting me to the departing airport?

Again, nope. It’s the winner's sole responsibility to arrange travel to their departure point. The winner is also responsible for any additional luggage costs and any extra costs charged.
A full list of the main ports that flights will be departing from is listed here.

What if I want to enter with my family or my partner/ spouse?

Entry into the promotion is only for individuals 18 years of age or older. If you want to come home as a couple e.g. with your spouse or partner, and you are both 18 or older, then each of you must enter individually to win a ticket each. If you have children or dependents under 18, you can include them as part of your entry provided that 1) you are their parent/guardian, 2) you are 18 years of age or older and 3) that you are able to travel with them if you each win a ticket home. If you have children 18 years of age or older, you can also include them as part of your entry, provided that 1) you are their parent/guardian, 2) you are 18 years of age or older and 3) that you are able to travel with them if you each win a ticket home.

Is there anywhere in the world you won't fly me home from?

No sirree– we will use our best endeavours to bring the prize-winners back home to NZ from anywhere across the globe.

How do I know if I have won?

You will be contacted by a Sanitarium representative no later than 14/11/2010 via the details you supply in your registration to the site.

What is the definition of 'Kiwi?'

To be a 'Kiwi' you need to be a current New Zealand resident or citizen with a valid passport. It'd be no good if you won and it was out of date, so sort that out now. Because trust us, we'll definitely be checking.

Can I remove content from my entry?

Yes, but hopefully you won't need to. If anyone does post stuff you don't like, just log in and press the delete button next to the comment.

What are the key dates I need to know about?

  • Promotion/voting begins 24/8/2010
  • Entries/voting ends 31/10/2010
  • Winners announced 14/11/2010
  • Flights comes home w/c 6th December 2010 (lands on or around 8th December).

Who can vote?

Anyone that registers their details and creates a login here Voters have up to 3 votes per day, but can only vote on each entry once daily (i.e. all your votes need to be split across 3 different entries per day).

How does judging work?

Judging is based on the quality (originality and creativity) of your submission and in keeping with the values of the Sanitarium Marmite brand. The number of votes will also be considered, but this is not the deciding factor - the highest number of votes does not guarantee you a seat on the plane.

Can I enter my friend/family-member that is overseas travelling?

No – entrants need to enter for themselves. But you can definitely let them know and point them in the right direction! That's a good idea.

Judging

Sure, you may have 100,000 facebook friends to vote for you but it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re on the plane. It’s a quality, then quantity rule round here. We’ll be making our decision based on originality and creativity, how well your entry fits with the values of the Marmite brand, then popularity.
